Planting Potatoes for Fab Friday!

On Friday, we decorated a plastic bucket and filled it up with compost (Thanks Amanda Brown!).
Next we added a seed potato (eyes facing up) and filled it up with more compost.  Then we put it in a sunny spot by the water tank and watered it.  Hopefully we will have potatoes ready for Christmas lunch or dinner???
We think we might get about 8 or 9 potatoes from 1 seed potato! - but we will have to make sure we look after them.

Bird Feeder! Room 6 help our animals to thrive!

A big thank you to Rhodes Donald and Amanda Shanley (Mum and Dad to Frances!!!) for helping the Room 6 children to build our class bird feeder.  Last term we designed and made our own bird feeder prototypes.  We talked about the good things and bad things from our designs and came up with some great shared ideas to build a real one! Thanks Amanda and Rhodes for making our dream come true.. the birds will be so happy and they will thrive.
This is what we did:
1. First we built it
2. Then we painted it.
3. Next we used pens to decorate it
4. After that we added the water feeders and food for the birds!
5. Finally we hung it in the kowhai tree outside our classroom- YEAH!
