The Portobello Aquarium

The Portobello Aquarium

First we saw Victoria and she welcomed us to the aquarium.  Next we went into the big classroom and sat on the chairs.  Room 5 sat on the right and Room 6 sat on the left.  Victoria told us about the metre squared project.  Then we went to the beach.  It was a rocky shore, the tide was out.  After that we counted the creatures and seaweed in the quadrants.  We had 4 quadrants.  We had to look very very carefully.  Next we met Bev and she showed us some of the creatures under a microscope, we saw a half crab up really close.  We found out that girl crabs have a round shape on their tummy and boys have a lighthouse shape.  Last of all we went to see the touch tanks.  It was so exciting to see and touch crabs, sea stars, kina, baby crayfish, cats eyes, anemones, mussels, paua  and fish.  It was so much fun to go to the aquarium and we all loved it.  (including the Mum's, Dad's and Grandparent's!!!)
